January 2023- Kiley Obtains Involuntary Dismissal of Claims in Negligence Actions

Jack Kiley obtained summary judgment in a dram shop action in Clay County. Plaintiff had attempted to pursue a dram shop claim against clients not engaged in the commercial sale of liquor. Kiley successfully argued the Dram Shop Act did not apply to his clients.
April 2022- Kiley Obtains Summary Judgment in Motor Vehicle Case
Jack Kiley obtained summary judgment in a Coles County motor vehicle accident case involving a minor plaintiff who was injured while riding her bike. Kiley successfully argued there were no facts to support the claim that his client was negligent when operating his vehicle at the time of the accident with the plaintiff and her bicycle.
December 2021- Kiley Obtains Summary Judgment in Deliberate Inference Claim
Jack Kiley obtained summary judgment in favor of his client, an optometrist, sued in federal court under a deliberate indifference theory. The plaintiff had alleged that the client showed deliberate indifference to plaintiff's allegedly serious medical condition.
November 2021- Kiley Obtains Dismissal of Will Contest
Jack Kiley obtained a dismissal of a will contest in Shelby County in favor of his clients, the co-executors of an estate. It had been alleged that the co-executors had exerted undue influence on the testator resulting in a will that excluded the petitioner who then sought to invalidate the will.

Kiley and Klein Defend Client's Contract with the State of Illinois
Jack Kiley and Jordan T. Klein successfully intervened to protect their two clients' state contracts worth nearly $6 million. The matter was dismissed in the Central District of Illinois and upheld after argument in the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
Kiley, Siudyla and Klein obtain $2.27 million judgment
Following a lengthy jury trial in federal court on a contract and products liability case, judgment was entered on behalf of the firm's client in the amount of $2.27 million. The defendant appealed and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit affirmed the District Court's judgment.

Following a multi-day jury trial, a jury delivered a defense verdict. The plaintiff had fallen down the client's stairs causing significant injury and had alleged the stairs were dangerous and not to code. Kiley successfully argued that plaintiff was responsible for her own injuries.
Siudyla obtains reversal from appellate court
In the Fifth Appellate District, Siudyla obtained a reversal of a domestic-battery conviction and sentence where the evidence demonstrated that the client's use of force was necessary to prevent or terminate his wife's trespass, and his use of force was reasonable.

Jordan T. Klein obtained summary judgment for his client in a property damage case held in Madison County, Illinois. The plaintiff sought damages for his broken patio door after Mr. Klein's client allegedly struck it with an errant golf ball from an adjacent golf course.
